The Dragon Palace Temple, Kamptee, NagpurThe Dragon Palace Temple is located in the Indian state of Maharashtra. More specifically, this temple is situated in Kamptee. Kamptee is a satellite township of the district of Nagpur. The Dragon Palace is dedicated to Lord Buddha and is recognized as a magnificent Buddhist prayer centre. It is also known as the 'Lotus Temple of Nagpur'. It has been felicitated with the International Award for the best concrete structure of the world.


Dragon Palace Temple was inaugurated in November, 1999. Mother Noriko Ogawa Society of Japan is credited with the foundation of this Palace Temple in association with Ms. Sulekha Kumbhare. Ms. Sulekha Kumbhare is identified as the MLA and Minister of State of Water and Sanitation. The Ogawa society is also known to have undertaken the responsibility of providing social services. They have engaged themselves in a mobile hospital, a welfare centre, an orphanage and a school for poor.


Dragon Palace Temple has been designed over a land of about 10 acres. The temple has a meditation hall. The walls of the temple have been painted in bright white color. This was done to symbolize calmness, clarity and divinity. The statue of Lord Buddha is housed on the first floor of the meditation hall. This statue will be evident to the visitors as elephantine. It is important to note that this figure has been carved out of a single block of sandalwood. Dragon Palace Temple of Kamptee was felicitated with the International Award for the best concrete structure of the world.
